Wilk Van Buren is my pen name; (no, I'm not going to tell you my real name.  What would be the point of having a pen name if I did that?).  I was born in Clarksville, Arkansas (Western Arkansas, near Oklahoma), and grew up there.  I moved to Eastern Arkansas right before my senior year of high school and joined the U.S. Navy after graduation.  After four years of active duty, I returned home and went to college for two years, getting my Associate of Arts Degree.  I took a year off from school and then moved to Memphis and went to college for one year, before dropping out to work full-time.  My major was English Literature with a Creative Writing minor.

I've been fascinated with writing, and especially with poetry, since I was about eight, but never actually sat down to try writing anything serious until my Freshman year of college.  Since then, I've written about fifty poems which I've put on this website, and about seven or eight short fiction pieces.
