Emmanuel, he gave his life - a sacrifice but not a loss ---
All through mighty Jerusalem he bore the heavy, wooden cross;
Stones were thrown, and thorns were made into a crown, worn on his head;
They crucified him and placed him on Golgotha 'til he was dead; 
Emmanuel, he gave his life - a sacrifice to cleanse our sin;
Resurrected, he ascended to sit at his Father's side again.
